Protein expression - CD4

Detail 1
Normal tonsil showing the expression and distribution of CD4 positive cells. CD4 is expressed in a subset of T-cells (T helper cells).

CD4 - T helper cell marker

CD-markers (Cluster of Differentiation) are antibodies that recognize cell surface antigens and antibodies detecting specific CD antigens are used in immunohistochemistry, mainly to distinguish different types of immune cells. The CD4 gene encodes for the T-cell surface glycoprotein CD4. CD4 is expressed in a subset of lymphocytes, T helper cells and T regulatory cells. CD4 antibodies are used in diagnostics of lymphoma/leukemia and to characterize various inflammatory cell infiltrates.
Show CD4 in the protein atlas.
