Protein expression - SATB2

Colon cancer (adenocarcinoma) showing expression of SATB2 in tumor cells.

SATB2 - Marker for colorectal cancer

SATB2 is a DNA-binding protein that is involved in transcriptional regulation and chromatin remodeling and has been implicated to play a role in the development of cleft palate. In adults the expression of SATB2 is mainly restricted to the brain and lower gastrointestinal tract. Due to the highly specific expression in colon and rectum, SATB2 has been suggested as an emerging diagnostic biomarker for colorectal cancer.
