CD3 - General T cell marker

CD-markers (Cluster of Differentiation) are antibodies that recognize cell surface antigens and antibodies detecting specific CD antigens are used in immunohistochemistry, mainly to distinguish different types of immune cells. The CD3E gene encodes for the CD3-epsilon polypeptide, which together with CD3-gamma, -delta and -zeta, and the T-cell receptor alpha/beta and gamma/delta heterodimers, forms the T-cell receptor-CD3 complex. CD3 is expressed in a subset of lymphocytes, T cells. CD3 antibodies are used as a general marker for T-cells in diagnostics of lymphoma/leukemia and to characterize inflammatory cell infiltrates.
