A new version 19.2 of the Human Protein Atlas released with information regarding human disease involvements.

A new version 19.2 of the Human Protein Atlas has been launched with additional information about disease involvement of each protein-coding gene. This information is included on the summary page of each gene. Information for protein-coding genes are shown in version 19.2 and it can be displayed on the search results pages. The information is based on the UniProt disease keywords combined with two protein classes from the Human Protein Atlas classifications. First, the Cancer-related genes list the genes coding for proteins which has been implicated in cancers. Secondly, the FDA approved drug targets, which is a list of proteins that are targets for the pharmaceutical drugs approved by the Food and Drug Agency in the US. The annotation of the genes involved in diseases will be updated in each new version of the Human Protein Atlas.
